It's Always Sunny in Dickinson ;)
The day started off with another early wakeup call but unfortunately was cut short only after an hour on site. A massive thunderstorm moved into the Dickinson area just as we were pulling up to the church. We decided a few pick up basketball games would be a fun alternative. A full game of 5 on 5, guys vs the girls, provided for a close and competitive match-up. Ryan almost cried because the girls took a big lead. Joe had some catching issues in the opening minutes, but carried the team through the end to be the game mvp. After the game we watched a movie on the gym's projection screen, it was almost as good as being at the movies.

Day 1 On Site!
Today was our first day on the HFH worksite. We arrived onsite at 8 am and worked through the day until 2:30. The two houses we are working on are in very similar stages, the roofs are completed and much of the indoor work is done and ready for other contractors to come out to complete tasks such as putting up sheetrock. We spent the day putting up siding on the two houses. After splitting up into four mini teams, we worked in these groups all day long. The weather was great with the temperature being in the mid 70s and the sun coming out occasionally but also hiding behind the clouds at times, regardless, quite a few of us still managed to get a little bit sunburned. Once we finished up working for the day we came back to the church and got changed to head to Galveston for dinner. Despite some impending rainstorms, we ventured out to a beachside restaurant called The Spot for a nice dinner. The restaurant was a lot of fun and we made it back before the storm was able to break. After a great first day on the site we are hoping that tomorrow the rain will hold off so we can continue with the progress we made today.

TEXAS!
After another long day of driving we have finally settled in to our new home for the next few days. The First United Methodist Church of Dickinson is a beautiful, newly remodeled, church located right on the outskirts of Houston. We arrived at the church around 5:30 this afternoon and were warmly welcomed by Pastor Jim Jackson. After showing us around the church and getting acquainted with the space, a few of us ventured out to do some grocery shopping for the week. We managed to whip up a delicious taco bar for dinner and after that we spent the evening exploring the church and getting to know everyone in the group a little better. The winds are howling outside and Pastor Jim said they are expecting some rain and storms this week. Regardless, we are very happy to have made it safely and are expecting a great week of work for HFH. We are so thankful for the support of our friends and families who have made it possible for us to help this cause!

Hello From Arkansas!!! After a long day of traveling, we left NCC at 5 am, we have finally settled into our hotel in Little Rock, AR. It was a rather uneventful day, aside from some heavy traffic outside of Little Rock, we were at a standstill for a little over an hour. Lucky for us, the temperature had shot up to 80 degrees so we were nice and toasty in our packed vans. We were all very grateful to arrive in Little Rock early enough to spend some time out and about checking out the downtown area and enjoying a local pizza favorite, American Pie. Tomorrow will be another long day of driving as we finish the drive to Dickinson but we are looking forward to reaching our destination and starting our work with HFH!
:)
